Welcome to EMDAD

A community-driven social entrepreneurship initiative in Lebanon under the PROSPECTS Programme , a global partnership supported by the Government of the Netherlands.

Our goal is to support the creation of new social enterprises and strengthen existing ones to tackle the country’s widespread unemployment and address urgent local socio-economic needs.

Help social entrepreneurs in Lebanon

EMDAD will help social entrepreneurs in Lebanon create and retain decent and inclusive jobs. EMDAD is implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in collaboration with makesense Lebanon, Cooperazione per lo Sviluppo (COSV) and Research and Professional Services for the MENA Region (RPS).

Promote micro, small and medium-sized enterprises as well as social and solidarity economy initiatives

Enhance the livelihoods of vulnerable Lebanese host communities and Syrian refugees through decent work

Develop a social and solidarity economy that serves vulnerable communities in Lebanon

For whom?

Entrepreneurs, start-ups, micro, small and medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs), and initiatives with a social impact in Lebanon that would like to receive support for their business development to tackle the country’s high unemployment and address urgent local socio-economic needs.

What can you expect?

Participants will benefit from the following:

  • Up to US$20,000 in funding in the form of a grant
  • Six months of one-on-one coaching sessions to develop their social initiatives
  • Technical support through training sessions
  • Access to community and networking events

    Research phase (interviews and focus groups)

  2. April 2023

    Opening of the call for applications

  3. May 2023

    Closure of the call for applications and announcement of the shortlisted candidates

  4. June 2023

    Training and pitching day for the shortlisted candidates and selection of the 17 participants for the EMDAD initiative

  5. September 2023

    Beginning of the EMDAD initiative

  6. March 2024

    Closing event and end of the EMDAD initiative
